I plan to flip my class this year. I've learned so much from FlipCon13 and the graduate course at Hamline University. As part of the final project of the course, I need to commit to take action to flip my course. Below is a prezi with my plans organized by the F.L.I.P. pillars.
You curated library idea - see the Session on Bretzmann - he offered a lot of resources to help with curation. He also referenced a site that turns presentations into ebooks.
ReplyDeleteYour room set up - I found grouping the desks in threes really transformed the conversation from socialization to collaboration.
There is a day I think it was in February - I cannot remember what it was called but it was open house day in tech world and I actually invited administration and parents to come in and se what it looks like. Which is kind of funny since who does that really in traditional classrooms b/c everyone knows what that looks like :)
Good luck - you seem to have a real grasp in the technology piece. I can fake it but man I am impressed even with this presentation!

Thanks for the comment, Lorraine. Bretzmann did the "Use this Flippin' Technology" session? I'll check it out. Just looked at his MentorMob but it wasn't so obvious. I'll check the archive.
DeleteThe room set up is so difficult for me - not only are the table huge but I also share the room. I would love to arrange things in 3's because that's my default group number. My planned set up is much better than having rows but if you have a suggestion, I'd love to hear it.
I'm trying to institute a peer observation initiative in the Science Department next year. I want to lead by example by having an open door, no need to check with me in advance policy.
Thanks for your kind words.
